Content protection and video delivery solution provider SMIT Corporation has entered into a partnership with SSports, the exclusive English Premier League (EPL) rights owner in mainland China and Macau.
SMIT will use its cloud-based OTT LOCOSTREAM platform to bring the world’s most popular football league to Chinese audiences. The multiscreen platform supports VOD and linear stream transcoding and online advertising integration all with, claims SMIT, cost-efficient content distribution
“Introducing the EPL through [an over-the-top] OTT platform into China is a path-breaking move, watching the matches on Internet – rather than any other platform – is expected to be the preferred choice in the market,” said Stephen He, SMIT executive vice president. “Our platform offers audiences new selections of the way they watch EPL matches. They will enjoy the immersive and interactive services in a simple way”.
