Sony LIV gives support to BlackBerry in India

Its latest financial quarter may have been a train wreck but BlackBerry can at last count on Sony as a loyal partner for video services in India.
Sony LIV, Multi Screen Media (MSM) has revealed that its that its premium video-on-demand (VOD) service will now be available as a free download on the BlackBerry World storefront for the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Z30 smartphones. Owners of such devices will be able to access content across the Sony spectrum including Sony Entertainment Television, MAX, SAB and MIX. Film content is also in the pipeline.
The Sony Pictures Television (SPT) backed Multi Screen Media is one of Indias leading television networks comprising Sony Entertainment Television (SET), one of India’s leading Hindi general entertainment television channels; MAX, Indias premium Hindi movies and special events channel; SAB, a family comedy entertainment channel; PIX, the English movie channel; MIX a refreshing Hindi music channel, SIX, Indias Premier Sports Entertainment Channel and LIV, the digital channel. The
Sony LIV offers interactive user experience through features such as the Mood Wheel which allows users to watch video content as per their mood/genre. Sony LIV also offers short content formats like catch-up episodes, Quickisodes and Short crunch episodes.
Commenting on the launch, Annie Matthews Director, Alliances and Business Development at BlackBerry said: BlackBerry’s all-touch smartphones pack performance coupled with HD resolution displays, as well as and the ability to display content from the smartphone directly on an HDTV, giving customers a great platform for consuming video content on demand. We are pleased to have Sony LIV available for the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Z30 smartphones, offering customers access to another great channel of entertainment and rich content.
