Irish TV eyes smile on SGL FlashNet for file acquisition and server upgrade

As part of a major upgrade project for RTÉ for which it has been contracted, systems integrator Eurotek has selected SGL FlashNet to provide content archive and storage management software.
The Irish state broadcaster’s File Acquisition and Server Technology (FAST) project is due to go on-air in summer 2013 and is designed to allow RTÉ to support file-based workflows, allowing assets to be easily available to a significantly increased number of users throughout the production process.
The new workflow sees SGL’s FlashNet storage management solution integrated with TMD’s Mediaflex asset management system, which provides the content management, preparation and workflow platform for FAST, and a Spectralogic T950 library. The integration between the three systems based at the RTÉ’s Dublin headquarters is claimed to provide a seamless workflow that significantly improves operational procedures.
Commented Eurotek MD Kevin Moore: “We’ve worked with SGL on a number of successful projects in the past and selected FlashNet for FAST because of its strong background and seamless integration with third-party applications.”
