Astra satellite operator SES has won the catch-up TV service operated by German news channel n-tv for the catch-up portal of its German HDTV platform HD+, HD+ Replay.

Viewers can now watch full-length shows such as Auslandsreport, n-tv Wissen or Welt der Wunder up to seven days after their TV broadcast.

n-tv now is the fourth catch-up service from German media group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland available through HD+ Replay. The portal, which launched in December 2012 with the catch-up services of RTL, VOX and Super RTL, will continue to be extended. The catch-up services operated by media group ProSiebenSat.1 will be added this summer.

HD+ Replay takes the commercial broadcasters’ catch-up services from the Internet to the TV set. For access, viewers require an HD+ smart TV receiver connected to the Internet at a data rate of at least 6Mbps.

In contrast to using the open Internet, accessing the catch-up services through HD+ Replay costs a fee. The first three months are free, and thereafter HD+ charges €15 for three months. Viewers signing up for an extension and activating it by December 2013 can use HD+ Replay for free for another six months.
