German free-to-air TV channel DMAX plans to launch an interactive multimedia service at the end of October to give viewers the opportunity, for example, to watch full-length TV programmes they missed directly on their TV sets.

The connected TV app, which will use the HbbTV standard, targets households with TV sets or set-top boxes hooked up to the Internet.

The free-of-charge, advertising-financed offering will be developed by MEKmedia, a German service provider specialised in connected TV solutions, following a technology partnership deal signed with DMAX’s parent company, Discovery Communications.
