Animal Planet to launch HD channel in Germany

Documentary channel Animal Planet will provide a high definition simulcast of its service in Germany from 15 October 2013. Animal Planet HD will be available on Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV platform Entertain and on Eutelsat’s direct-to-cable platform KabelKiosk.
In Switzerland, UPC Cablecom, Digital Cable Group, Teleclub and Sunrise will carry Animal Planet HD, while UPC Austria will distribute the service in Austria. The launch dates will vary depending on the platform providers.
Also from 15 October Animal Planet will offer all of its programmes with two soundtracks, with viewers of the pay-TV channel specialising in animal and nature documentaries able to choose between the dubbed German-language version and the original English-language soundtrack.
