A+E Networks and Canal+ Group have concluded a long-term content deal covering acquisition, production and digital distribution and involving Canal+ pay-TV factual channels Planète+ and free DTT networks D8 and D 17.

Both groups will launch several channels during 2013 through the Planete+ brand on the CanalSat platform with exclusive access to A+E Networks’ line-up of factual entertainment content.

D8 and D17 will also carry A+E Networks’ programming more widely.

A+E Networks and Canal+ also plan to create digital opportunities in France.

“This agreement will enable us to significantly enhance our offer of programmes and promote one of the best international factual and entertainment brands to our subscribers,” says Olivier Stroh, Canal+ director of Planète+.

The group currently operates 57 channels outside the US in over 150 territories, and reaches more than 330 million subscribers.
