SingTel mio TV will usher in the Lunar New Year later this month with the launch of its first original production for Jia Le Channel HD (SingTel mio TV Channel 502). Are You Hokkien? provides an insider look into everything Hokkien in Singapore.
Over 40% of Singaporean Chinese are Hokkien, making it the largest dialect group. This series aims to help audiences rediscover what it means to be Hokkien, and find a deeper connection with their roots, said Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director of TV, SingTel.
Viewers from other cultures and dialect groups will also enjoy the content as Hokkien is very much part of Singapores local culture. Many of our everyday conversations are peppered with Hokkien words and phrases, and theres so much more to this fascinating culture than Hokkien mee!
The first episode will air on the eve of Lunar New Year (30 January) at 8.30pm with encore telecasts on the first day of Lunar New Year (31 January) at 10am, 2.30pm and 5pm. Episodes 2 to 8 will air every Saturday from 2 February at 10.30pm.
The series is produced by Threesixzero Productions.
