35% of French TV viewers are using a second screen while watching TV, and the phenomenon is swelling, according to new survey from GroupM and SFR Régie.

Either using smartphone, tablet or computer, “60% of users are weekly multi-screeners and 35% are using a second screen daily,” notes the fourth edition of Connected Screens Observatory.

87% of users connect from their computer, while 65% are using smartphones and 29% are surfing from their tablets.

Main second-screen addicts are the 15-35 demo (32%) followed by young adults aged 25-34. The study shows that in 63% of cases the second screen is not related to any TV programme but for reading e-mails, surfing the Web or doing research.

The survey was carried out in December on 1,255 representative internauts from 16-65 years old.
